Magnetic Particle Inspection (sometimes referred to as Magnetic Particle Testing) is a very common and easy-to-use NDT technique. It works, as its name applies, by having the tester create a magnetic field around the object being inspected.

Se hela listan på qualitymag.com Mag Particle Testing Magnetic particle inspection (MPI) testing of welds is a very effective form of surface-examination that aids in detecting surface and shallow subsurface discontinuities, or flaws, in ferromagnetic materials such as iron or steel. Non-destructive testing (NDT) methods are used in any application where the structural soundness of a material must be determined without altering the material itself. There are dozens of inspection techniques grouped by method to inspect thousands of materials. Liquid dye penetrant testing and magnetic particle inspections are two of these These fluorescent and nonfluorescent wet method magnetic particle inspection consumables and support materials excel in water-based magnetic particle inspections and oil-based mag particle testing functions throughout the aerospace component manufacturing & MRO, automotive braking, suspension, steering, & engine component manufacturing, oil/gas tubular inspections (OCTG), and railroad component manufacturers The Magnetic Particle Inspection is a nondestructive testing method to detect defects (example: material cracks) in precision components. This inspection process is quick and simple to complete and surface prep is not as critical for NPI as it is for some other testing methods.

Re: Magnetic Particle Test over Paint In Reply to Manuel Haces at 07:27 Jun-05-2012 (Opening). Hi Manuel. The thicker the paint, the less sensitive the test. That being said, magnetic particle testing over paint can work very well. Magnaflux even makes contrast paint to be used with magnetic particle testing.
